Eric Sienknecht, PsyD, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Co-founder and Lead Trainer at Polaris Insight Center, a ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) clinic and training center in San Francisco. He earned his B.A. in Philosophy and World Religions from Georgetown University in 2000 and his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2011. He has worked as Clinical Director of the San Francisco Functional Restoration Program and Supervising Psychologist at Trauma & Stress Recovery System in Oakland and is trained in MBSR, IFS, and EMDR. He has undergone further training in psychedelic psychotherapy with the Ketamine Training Center (KTC) and Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). He was an adherence rater, sub-investigator and study therapist on the Lykos-sponsored Phase 2 and 3 Clinical Trials for MDMA-assisted therapy (MDMA-AT) for PTSD and is currently a supervisor and educator in MDMA-AT.

His areas of expertise include treatment of mood disorders, chronic pain, trauma, and integration of psychedelic experiences. His professional interests include relational psychoanalysis, consciousness research, transpersonal and mindfulness approaches to working with non-ordinary states of consciousness (NOSC), the therapeutic potential of mystical experiences, historical uses of various psychedelic and plant medicines, and the role of music in psychedelic experiences. He has recently published a chapter on the use of music in relational psychedelic psychotherapy. He has presented at conferences and written articles on various clinical aspects of psychedelic psychotherapy, including set and setting, ethics, working with NOSC, and music.
